Ocean Conservancy

Ever since I was little, I have loved going to the ocean. The beach is my happy place! I have had the privilege of vacationing on several beaches in Mexico, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic for the past several years. Every time I visit and go snorkeling or walk the beach, I am reminded of the effect we as humans have on our beaches, oceans, and their wildlife. It breaks my heart to see the beaches littered with trash, a landscape many of us love to enjoy so much that we pay to escape our everyday lives to visit it. Yet if we take the time to venture off the well-manicured beaches of the resorts, it's easy to see the effect we have on a place we treasure so much. The same goes for our oceans. I love to snorkel and see all the beautiful, vibrant sea creatures and coral, where many of these creatures call home. However, the coral is not as vibrant and lively as I remember as a kid. The coral reefs are dying all over the world due to pollution, overfishing, and climate change. I chose Ocean Conservancy as one of my selected charities because I want to do everything I can to preserve and protect our beaches, oceans, and their wildlife; so that all humans can continue to enjoy their wonder and beauty for generations to come.

How Donations Will Be Used

All donations to Ocean Conservancy go towards ocean protection, investing in research, leadership and advocacy that advances science-based solutions that work to save our oceans. This includes the following programs Confronting Climate Change, Protecting Florida, Protecting The Arctic, Smart Ocean Planning, Sustainable Fisheries, Trash Free Seas, and Government Relations.
